About Bob
Bob Schumm is a longtime Lawrence resident, retired restaurant owner, and former mayor with a deep passion for community service. With 12 years on the City Commission—including three terms as mayor—and 50 years of business experience downtown, Bob knows how to get things done with heart and integrity.
Over the years, he’s helped shape projects that matter—like the library expansion, the community theater, and Lawrence’s recycling program. Now, Bob’s running again to tackle today’s biggest challenges: affordable housing, smart infrastructure, rising property taxes, and protecting what makes Lawrence special.
Bob and his wife Sandra live with their cat Arjuna and enjoy time with their four grown kids and seven grandkids. You’ll often find Bob at Dog Days, the beloved local fitness tradition he’s been part of for decades—or out walking through downtown, chatting with neighbors.
“Lawrence deserves leaders who listen and know how to lead,” Bob says. “I bring experience, steady leadership, and a deep love for this town. Let’s build a stronger future—together.”
